kayak solar charger
I made this charger a few years back but it still works great! It consists of two Uni Solar Panals (16.5 Volts, 5 Watts) connected to a pelican case via a waterproofed hole cut in the side pf the case. Inside the case is the 12 volt adapter coming from the solar panels.
That way, I can charge the video camera as well as other essential batteries safely within the waterproof (dust and sand-proof too!) case.
Due to its size it works great for sea kayaking and car camping, but would be too bulky and heavy for backpacking.
Since batteries are expensive in Baja and there's never a way to dispose of them 'properly', this is a great way to go!
I know too, that since I built this system there's cheaper and stronger charging systems out there for camping, backpacking etc. ...
